Instructor Profile: Samantha Barrett

When we think of high energy, big smiles, and inspiring music - Samantha Barrett is one of the first fitness instructors that comes to mind! Ask any of her clients, and they will rage about her intentional directions during class and motivating playlist to push their limits.

Pretty much every day, you can find Samantha either taking class or teaching at Scottsdale fitness studios.

Q: How long have you worked in the fitness industry and what got you started? 

A: I've been in the fitness industry for about three years. I started my journey back in 2015 at barre3 North Scottsdale. My passion for teaching was driven by the experiences I encountered during each class at the studio. The strength, grace, and love each instructor brought to the space was inspiring, it was then that I knew this was something I wanted to do with my life. I recently became an instructor at FlyWheel Scottsdale as well and love challenging myself in new ways and styles of teaching to deliver unforgettable moments for clients. 

Q: What brought you to the Valley and how are you involved in the community? 

A: I'm an Arizona native and have been involved in the community for most of my life. I've worked closely with The Boys and Girls Clubs of Scottsdale and have volunteered with several non-profits throughout the Valley. Karie Johnson and barre3 have also provided the opportunity to give generously and make a difference for others. 

Q: What inspires you to continue working as an instructor?

A: Connecting with clients and learning about them is what inspires me. Life is an adventure and I'm blessed to have the chance to be a vessel of hope and love for every person that comes to class.

Q: How do you enjoy motivating clients?

A: To me, every class is an opportunity to provide motivation and inspiration. I love to use the environment of the studio adjusting temperature and lighting, then fill it with powerful music that is impactful and resonates with those in the room. It's all about creating an experience where clients feel challenged physically and mentally then leave feeling like they can conquer the world outside the studio. 
Q: What do you value most when it comes to workout apparel? 

A: Comfort and style are two things I value most when it comes to investing in my workout wardrobe. I'm very active with my teaching schedule and pretty much live in workout gear throughout the week, so apparel that is breathable and makes me feel strong and stylish is my favorite! 

Q: What are the top 5 things that you are grateful for in life?

A: My husband, family, and friends - All the love we share every day!

Q: Describe a time when you experienced a random act of kindness and how it affected you. 

A: Another couple bought my meal at a restaurant and it made me feel really special.

Q: What puts a smile on your face every day? 

A: My husband, leading a great workout, and pumping fun beats!
